PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS, BROOKLYN — Patricia Thomas, 63, was found dead inside her burning two-story home at 203 Fenimore St. near Prospect Park early Monday evening, according to the NYPD.
Thomas was already dead when police and firefighters with the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) responded to the attic fire around 6:10 p.m., both departments told Patch.
"The New York City Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death," the NYPD said in a statement. "The investigation into the fire is ongoing."
Two more civilians were injured in the two-alarm fire, an FDNY spokesman said — one of them critically.
