Suspect Linked to Clarkson Avenue Shooting: NYPD
The victim tried to break up a fight, but was shot in the leg as a result, police said.

LEFFERTS GARDENS, BROOKLYN — A suspect has been identified in a Sept. 5 shooting that sent a man to the hospital.
According to the NYPD, on that day, the victim, a 20-year-old male, attempted to break up a fight between a man and a woman shortly before 7 a.m. in front of 253 Clarkson Ave.
But the man involved in the fight then shot the 20-year-old in the right leg, police said, sending him to the Kings County Hospital in stable condition.

Detectives describe the suspect (pictured above) as a black male between 18 and 22 years old. He is between five-foot-eight-inches and five-foot-eleven-inches tall and weighs approximately 155 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark baseball hat, dark jeans, white sneakers, and a white hooded shirt with an American flag on the front.

This shooting took place in the NYPD's 71st Precinct, which patrols Lefferts Gardens. Through Sept. 25, major crimes were collectively down nearly 14 percent in the 71st compared to the same period last year, according to official police statistics.
Recorded shootings had ticked up slightly through Sept. 25, to 18, compared to 16 during the same period in 2015. A total of 23 people were shot in the precinct through that date this year, compared to 24 last year.
