Gunshot Rings Out In Rye Home As Young Man Takes Own Life

CITY OF RYE, NY — A young man's hopelessness had tragic results this weekend in a normally quiet Westchester neighborhood.

The City of Rye Police Department says that on Saturday, around 8:35 p.m., officers responded to a home on Florence Street after receiving a report of a gunshot.

Once officers arrived on the scene, they found a 26-year-old man in critical condition, with an apparent gunshot wound.

Police say that despite the efforts of first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries on the way to White Plains Hospital.

Based on the investigation and a postmortem examination, the Westchester County Medical Examiner certified the cause of death as suicide, according to police.
