Port Chester, Rye Brook Hosting Memorial Day Services

Residents of the villages are invited to the joint events.

PORT CHESTER, NY - Residents of Port Chester and Rye Brook are invited to a series of Memorial Day services as part of the villages' joint observance, all of which will be held on Monday, May 29. The day will culminate with a parade.

The first will start at 8:45 a.m. at the Village Marina, to honor service members who died. Flowers will be placed into the water, a color guard will be present and a rendition of taps will be performed.

The second event will be at 9 a.m. at the William James Memorial Park, where a color guard and firing team will be present; taps will also be performed.

At 9:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m., there will be services involving color guards and taps at the Vietnam War memorial and police memorial, Spanish War memorial and Civil War memorial, respectively.

At 10 a.m., a firing team will gather at American Legion Post 93, while a color guard and firing team will assemble for a ceremony in front of the Port Chester firehouse at 10:30 a.m., where taps will be performed.

At 10:45 a.m., a color guard and firing team will assemble at a Korean War memorial, where taps will also be played.

Finally, the parade will begin at 11 a.m., which will be along Westchester Avenue and end at Broad Street.
