Rye Star Student Is Also An Eagle Scout And Accomplished Musician
In addition to being an honor student, Matthew impresses outside of the classroom earning wide recognition for his talents and dedication.

RYE, NY — This star student shines with a special light that makes his entire community proud.
Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
For such a young person, Matthew has an impressive record. This Honor student, Eagle Scout will be recognized several times over the next two months. Beginning this week with the EMS Explorer National Leadership Award, presented by the BSA. Matthew not only volunteers his time on the ambulance but is also the inaugural President of this EMS Post. Matthew has also been selected as the Greenwich Hospital : Martin Luther King Service Scholarship recipient. In addition, this week he has been notified of winning the Rye Youth Council Scholarship Award, Rye High School’s Orchestra award (Bass) & Rye High School’s Stagecraft Award ( Stage Manager). It’s been a busy week for him !
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Matthew was informed this week that he has been chosen by NESA ( National Eagle Scout Association) to receive the Lawrence S. and Mabel Cooke Scholarship Award. This is only the second time ever this National award has been won by a New York Greater Hudson Valley Council scout. The first one was awarded to Matthew’s brother last year.
