SOUL RYEDERS 2nd Annual Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk This Sunday
Participants will honor those touched by cancer, celebrate community support, & fundraise. Rye PD warns of road closures and detours on Sun.

RYE, NY — It's once again time for the citywide celebration of endurance and hope.
SOUL RYEDERS, a Rye-based, non-profit cancer support organization, will be hosting their 2nd annual Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk event on Sunday, May 19, at Playland Park in Rye.
The organization says there will be over 1,400 runners/walkers and more than 150 volunteers, including those affected by cancer directly or indirectly and those who want to show their support.

Fundraising monies from this event directly support SOUL RYEDERS’ programs which support anyone in the tri-state area impacted by any type of cancer.
"The planning and execution of this race requires hard work, as well as strong community bonds and supportive partnerships and we are so proud to see it come to life!" Heidi Kitlas, Executive Director of SOUL RYEDERS, said. "Focusing on SOUL RYEDERS’ mission to support those impacted by cancer, we are overwhelmed by the outpouring in our local area and beyond. Our theme this year is 'Courage' and we are highlighting our survivor hospitality tent as a way to show our support for all those impacted by cancer who are participating. Every step counts and we are honored to cheer for all runners and walkers on race day!"

The event will start at 7:30 a.m. and finish at 11 a.m. at Playland Park. The course will weave through the streets of Rye and Port Chester with the final stretch along the Long Island Sound.

The City of Rye Police Department advises that there will be several road closures and detours in the area around the half marathon on Sunday.
