Volunteer Opportunities Of The Week: Soul Ryeders Half-Marathon
Every week, Patch will spotlight volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Each week, Patch will be highlighting volunteer opportunities in the Hudson Valley. This will be a chance to help your community and be an opportunity to give back — perhaps in a way you didn't consider before.
Soul Ryeders Half-Marathon and 5K
Soul Ryeders is looking for volunteers to assist with its second annual half marathon and 5K; volunteers can help with cheering on runners, handing out water and snacks, taking photos, and more. All volunteers will receive a T-shirt during volunteer check-in the day before the race!

NAMIWalks Event Volunteers
NAMI Westchester's annual NAMIWalks event is the largest mental health walk in the Hudson Valley. Volunteers can help with setting up and cleaning up, taking photographs, and face-painting. Volunteers can enjoy free bagels, coffee, fruit, and snacks; food trucks will also have items available for purchase.

GARNER Arts Festival
GARNER Arts Festival is a weekend-long event showcasing art exhibitions, live music, crafts, food, and more! Volunteers can assist with check-in, concessions, galleries, and kids' art workshops. All volunteers receive a lunch break and a meal, a festival T-shirt, and a free ticket to attend the day opposite their shift (i.e. volunteers who help on Saturday will get a free ticket to Sunday's event, and vice-versa).

Community Action Poverty Simulation Volunteers
Legal Services of the Hudson Valley's Community Action Poverty Simulation mimics the experience of families in poverty over a period of time. Volunteers will play the role of community resource professionals opposite of trained staff who portray local families in need. There will be a 1-hour virtual orientation for all volunteers, and lunch will be provided on the day of the opportunity. Volunteers will be reimbursed for parking and they must be 21+ to participate.

Writers Summer Camp Youth Counselors
The Hudson Valley Writers Center is seeking responsible high school and college students ages 16-22 to assist with its Writers Express Youth Summer Camps. Counselors will gain valuable experience in youth arts education, literary programming, and child care/youth development, as well as gain exposure to the daily operations of a nonprofit arts organization.
Date: Weekdays from 8:45 a.m.-1 p.m. and 12-4:15 p.m. from July 28-August 22; register by 5/31
