7-Vehicle Crash Closes Motor Pkwy

Veterans Memorial Highway to the Long Island Expressway, which was closed earlier, has been reopened.

A crash involving seven vehicles shut down Motor Parkway in Islandia from Veterans Memorial Highway to the Long Island Expressway Tuesday morning.

According to police, the driver of a fence truck lost control of the vehicle's brakes and rear-ended another car that was stopped at a red light on Motor Parkway at 8:43 a.m. The truck forced the vehicle into another car, which set off a chain reaction involving seven vehicles in total, one crashing into the other from behind.

Two drivers suffered minor injuries and were taken to St. Catherine's Hospital.
