1. Long Islanders honored the memory of those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on 9/11 with ceremonies in Smithtown. The Town of Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim said it's important to keep the victim's memory alive. According to official reports, nearly 500 Long Island residents died in lower Manhattan that day, including 53 Smithtown residents. (Long Island News 12)
2. Just a friendly reminder that the Heritage Country Fair kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 18, on the grounds of the Smithtown Historical Society. The family-friendly community events feature fun activities for all and local vendors starting at 10 a.m. (Smithtown Historical Society)
