SMITHTOWN, NY — Ennui and Anxiety, 8-month-old domestic short-haired tabby siblings, are the Smithtown Animal Shelter's Pets of the Week.

When Ennui and her brother, Anxiety, arrived at the shelter as stray baby kittens, they were understandably skittish and shy, according to the shelter. However, after receiving proper care and attention, these two are growing into "lovable little cuddle monsters who will make wonderful additions to one lucky family’s heart and home."

"This brother and sister duo may seem shy at first, but a gentle approach and some patience is quickly rewarded with unconditional love and endless affection," the shelter wrote. "This duo will warm your heart with irresistible charm and offer a lifetime of cherished memories to share. Both kittens are healthy and would likely fit purr-fectly in most homes, including those with older children, cats, and calm dogs."

The Smithtown Animal Shelter's primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to it. The Animal Control Officers and kennel attendants at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter or they can set up an at-home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets or the household itself.

The shelter is also seeking foster volunteers. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for an extended time.
