Here are the top five stories in Smithtown today:

  1. The Smithtown Recreation Department is hosting its annual Ghosts and Goblins Event on Oct. 22 at the Browns Road Park in Nesconset. The fun starts at 10 a.m. and goes on until noon. The department is asking for nonperishable food donations to help the Smithtown pantry. (Smithtown Matters)
  2. Smithtown Historical Society scheduled its next Old Time Baseball game for Oct. 9, at 11 a.m. Bring the family to see the game being played by old 19th-century rules! The event is free and open to all. (Smithtown Historical Society)
  3. For those who want to help the blood banks on Long Island, St. James Episcopal ChurchBlood will hold a blood drive on Wednesday, Oct 5. Drop in between 3 and 7:30 p.m. The church is at 490 North Country Rd, in St. James. (Patch Events)
  4. A public hearing will be held on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Commack Firehouse to discuss the proposed budget for 2023. Residents will have the opportunity to review and discuss the proposal. The firehouse is located at 6309 Jericho Turnpike, Commack. (Town of Smithtown)
