For those who love local history and would like to learn about Long Island Route 27, the Smithtown Public Library-Nesconset Building is hosting a community program to explore pictures, facts, built and other topics related to the famous Sunrise Highway on Wednesday, Nov. 2.   2. Attention "Party Animals," Nesconset Chamber of Commerce is putting a Halloween Pet Parade together on Oct. 29! There will be ice cream, a costume contest, music and more at the Nesconset Gazebo at 11 a.m. The event is free, and all ages are welcome. (Google Events In Smithtown)
  3. Gov. Kathy Hochul and Rep. Lee Zeldin faced off in a debate for their election race on Tuesday. The topics discussed were abortion laws, the economy and public safety.   4. Save the date for the VFW Post 5796 Veterans Day Parade that will be held on Nov. 11. Support our veterans and watch them marching at the intersection of Church Street and Old Dock in Kings Park at 9:30 a.m. The Smithtown Patch will remind you of this event as the date approaches.   5. Hooray to the Smithtown High School Girls Soccer Team, who hosted the Kicks For Cancer fundraiser in early October. The team won against Bellport 6-0 in defense of a good cause. A significant number of donations were made during the event. (Smithtown Patch)
