Residents visiting Smithtown's senior center on Tuesday night were greeted by a colorful surprise.
A large peacock was loose in the Eugene Cannataro Senior Citizen Center parking lot. It narrowly avoided being hit by several cars.
Senior Center employees and residents were clueless were the animal had come from. Many wondered aloud if it escaped from the town's animal shelter next door, but this was not confirmed as of Wednesday morning.
