Impressive Run for Smithtown Golf Prodigy

Liu lost a 20-hole second-round match to John Augenstein of Owensboro, Ky on Thursday.

Jim Liu, the 17-year-old golf prodigy ended his junior career with a loss at the U.S. Amateur on Thursday, but not after an impressive run, which included 19-hole win over fellow Long Islander Matt Lowe in the U.S. Junior Amateur at Martis Camp Club in Truckee, Calif.

Newsday reports that Liu lost a 20-hole second-round match to John Augenstein of Owensboro, Ky on Thursday. He is now on to Stanford, and possibly the Walker Cup.

According to Championships.randa.org,  Liu was the youngest winner of the US Junior Open in 2010 at the age of 14. Before that, Tiger Woods held the honor, winning in 1991 at age 15.
