Here are the top five stories in Smithtown today:

  1. In September, the Smithtown Patch shared the good news of six puppies being rescued from a puppy mill in Kentucky by the nonprofit Paws Of War In Nesconset. According to the POW staff, the dog's health conditions were concerning due to dehydration and being left to starve for some time. Now, the six four-legged little ones are doing excellent after a month of care. Visit here to see a picture of Skipper, Chloe, Oliver, Kira, Kane and Finn. (Smithtown Matters)
  2. Registered voters who need to update their address have until Wednesday, Oct. 19, to do so. The update can be made at the local DMV in person or online at the Department of Motor Vehicles website. (Comsewogue Library)
  3. Cars were on fire at the BMW dealership located at Middle Country Road in St. James. Nesconset Fire Department controlled the flames that engulfed four vehicles on Sunday. No injuries were reported. (LI News12)
  4. The Smithtown Public Library will host a "Bingo Night for Adults," with refreshments and prizes. Save the date for Thursday, Oct. 27. Visit the library's website at smithlib.org to register. (Smithtown Public Library)
