Photo of the Day: Dogwood Kid Collects Books for Neurological Institute

A fourth grader gets enough book donations to help the Neurological Institute of NY at Columbia Medical Center and the Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital.

A fourth grade student at Dogwood Elementary organized gathered books through a book drive, books that kids in the Neurological Institute of NY at Columbia Medical Center will have to read.

Alexandra, whose last name was held by the Smithtown Central School District, first met with school principal Renee Carpenter to pitch her idea and then went to work, making fliers and posters for the drive, resulting in hundreds of books being donated.

The amount of books collected was so great that the overflow will be donated to the Stony Brook Long Island Children's Hospital in support of the Dogwood PTA's Book Drive.
