According to the report, Higgins signed the contract Friday on the final day of free agency in the NHL, and is taking home roughly $300,000 more than he did last season.
Higgins, according to the report, played on one foot during the second, third and fourth rounds of the postseason, suffering a hairline foot fracture blocking a shot against the Nashville Predators in the second round.
