Smithaven Veterinary Hospital to Open Grooming Business

 in St. James is expanding its business by opening a dog grooming facility, Smithaven Groomers.

The grooming facility will be located at 810 Middle Country Road and is set to open July 5.

Ronald Coiro, owner of the hospital and the grooming facility, said the creation of the business was based off of client demand.

“It’s a nice adjunct to the veterinary service for clients, a lot of our clients were looking for a place to be able to go where they would get the same kind of service at our hospital, and we started offering that service in addition to our medical services,” he said. 

Coiro, a veterinarian of 22 years who purchased the hospital about eight years ago, said the grooming location has been extensively remodeled and renovated to accommodate his clients as well as new ones.

Smithaven grooming will be open Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed Sunday. Monday through Wednesday hours, according to Coiro, would depend on client demand.
