- The school district announced 144 High School East seniors who maintained a 4.0 GPA for four consecutive years of high school were honored. Each student received a plaque and gold cords presented by Assistant Superintendent Kevin Simmons. The gold cords will be worn at their graduation. (Smithtown Patch)
- According to a news release, Nesconset's Paws of War is attempting to rescue two adorable kittens for a United States Army soldier stationed in the Middle East. āSpc. Jenny could not leave these kittens behind knowing their mom passed away and put her faith in us to help bring them home," said Dereck Cartright, logistics coordinator at Paws of War. - Wednesday in Hauppauge around 2:20 p.m. Joseph Suozzo, age 60, of Jupiter, Florida, was allegedly fleeing the scene of a single-car crash when he was hit and killed by an 18-wheel truck, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. (Patch)
- Long Island Museum will keep you engaged this weekend with art and entertainment with "Two Centuries of Long Island Women Artists" on Saturday, May 28. The museum is located at 1200 Route 25A in Stony Brook, and visitations will be open to the public at noon. (AARP)
- According to the New York Blood Center, donations are on the decline. "The center has seen 6,000 fewer donations than earlier in the year." It's time we roll up your sleeve and give blood.
