- The Smithtown Robotics team wowed students at the Dogwood Elementary School Wednesday for a little show and tell! Through the national organization FIRST, the robotics team, East and West HS students, spent six weeks designing and building their robot. The team encouraged kids to join the robotics team when they are old enough, as it will help build their problem solving skills. (Smithtown Matters)
- Officer Scott Fowler of the SCPD Fourth Precinct visited his daughter's kindergarten class Wednesday at Mills Pond Elementary School. Officer Fowler who works nights, told the students about all the tools he brings to work and how he serves and protects our community when they get ready for bedtime! (Smithtown Matters)
- Sponsored by the Friends of Caleb Smith Preserve, the 18th Annual Junior Angler Fishing Tournament takes place Saturday, June 11 at Caleb Smith State Park Preserve, West Jericho Turnpike [Route 25] in Smithtown. Fishing groups: ages 5-8 and ages 9 -12 can participate in this catch-and-release event. Trophies will be awarded. To register fill out application by Saturday, June 4. (Smithtown Matters)
- According to a news release, starting on Friday, FLIP Circus is set to hit Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove for a week-and-a-half. The show's theme, "enduring human spirit", was created by the Vazquez family to celebrate the American circus tradition. Tickets start at $25 for children and $40 for adults with discounts available when purchasing online. (Smithtown Patch)
