  1. 2 new properties are on the market in the Smithtown area. Here's a sampling of the latest batch of new properties to hit the housing market — such as a house with 3 beds and 2 baths for $549,000, and another with 4 beds and 2 baths for $799,000. (Smithtown Patch)
  2. Central Islip parents of a 13-month-old baby were arrested for allegedly leaving the child alone in a car in the parking lot of Target on Sunrise Highway in Bay Shore on Saturday. The engine was off and the temperature was 22 degrees. (News 12 Bronx)
  3. The Long Island High School for the Arts is about to receive another $1.5 million from the Billy Joel Foundation. Six years ago, when the school ran into financial trouble, Billy Joel donated $1 million from his foundation. The entertainer and his foundation "have worked with us in developing the program and with ideas for improving the program," said Bob Dillon, district superintendent for Nassau BOCES.
