Smithtown Police Blotter: Man Sold Cocaine 3 Times

ALSO: A man was accused of stealing credit cards and then using them to purchase gift cards, police say.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Curious about what's going on in your neighborhood? These are recent incidents reported in the Smithtown area from May 12 through May 18.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

  • May 15: Vladimir Elie, 48, of Medford, sold cocaine in Lake Ronkonkoma on Oct. 10, police said. Elie sold cocaine again on Old Nichols Road in Islandia on Oct. 23, police said. On Nov. 13, Elie sold cocaine weighing more than two ounces on Old Nichols Road in Islandia, police said. He was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance: two ounces of narcotic drug and two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance: narcotic drug, police said.
  • May 12: Devon Barrett, 34, of Central Islip, was accused of stealing a credit card from a vehicle parked at LA Fitness on East Main Street in Smithtown around 8:50 p.m. Feb. 24, police said. The stolen credit cards were later used to purchase gift cards, police said. Barrett was arrested and charged with one count of fourth-degree grand larceny: value property greater than $1,000, one count of fourth-degree grand larceny: credit card, and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

Incidents

  • May 17: Grand larceny (third-degree) was reported on Smithtown Bypass at 12:28 a.m. Somebody stole the front bumper off a 2025 GMC that was parked at King O'Rourke Buick GMC, police said.
