Smithtown Police Blotter: Money Stolen In Scam
A scammer gained access to a St. James resident's computer and transferred money, police say.

The Suffolk County Police Department posted the following information. All charges are accusations and do not signify guilt.

- Nov. 19: Grand larceny (fourth-degree) was reported on Nora Court in St. James at 2:28 p.m. A scammer tried to gain access to someone's desktop computer, police said. The person tried to make accounts with the victim's personal information, police said. The scammer transferred money and stole it, police said.
