CNN anchor and Smithtown native Soledad O'Brien talks about her career, growing up biracial an more in her new book "The Next Big Story," co-written with Rose Marie Arce, Latina Lista has reported.

The half Afro-Cuban, half Australian daughter of a mechanical engineering professor and a French and English teacher, one of six children, discusses following her siblings to Harvard for pre-med studies, where she discovered journalism and changed her educational path.

Throughout the book, O’Brien talks about her approach to her work and how it is influenced from experiences growing up biracial in a predominately white neighborhood, Latina Lista reported.
