- Suffolk County announced that its systems had suffered a cyberattack. The system is ongoing, but some servers reported an unauthorized person/system had accessed their personal information. A cybersecurity team hired by the county is investigating the situation and assuring residents' information is secured. (Smithtown Matters)
- Smithtown Recreation Department is calling all crafters in our community to participate in the Tender Years Treasury of the Smithtown Senior Citizens Department, which will be hosted on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event features a craft fair with handmade items created by Smithtown Senior residents. - Photo Gallery: The German Festival was held at the Smithtown St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church on Sept. 17. Hundreds in the community came out to enjoy a day filled with authentic German food, rides, children's activities and outdoor fun. Check out pictures of the event. (TBR News Media)
- Saint James Brick Clay Studio and Gallery are hosting a big outdoor pottery sale to help Ukraine from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All event proceeds will be donated to the World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit that feeds those who suffered disasters. The studio is at 2 Flowerfield in St. James. (Patch Events)
- Robinson's Tea Room has closed its doors permanently. The business was located at 95 Main St. in Stony Brook. Owners announced via social media that the closure was due to health problems. (Patch)
