Tie-Wearing Boy Wins Award from New York Knicks

James Funaro of Nesconset will get "City Spirit" award for his fundraising for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The efforts of the necktie-donning Nesconset boy who raised more than $9,000 for a Make-A-Wish child will be recognized by the New York Knicks Wednesday before they tip-off against the Detroit Pistons. 

James Funaro will accept January’s “Sweetwater Clifton ‘City Spirit’ Award” that honors people whose efforts have significantly helped those in need. with fundraising for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, accepting donations from people from as far as .

The award comes with a $2,000 donation that will be given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Suffolk County.
