Moe's Owner: Having Fun Keeps the Business Going

Moe's owner Bill Mullaney is no stranger to working in a service industry, from being a hotel manager prior to owning the eatery. Aside from making money, Mullaney said there is one thing that keeps him in Moe's six days a week that was missing from the hotel industry – fun.

"It's something different every day, it's just enjoyable," he said. "I like the interaction with the staff, I like the product otherwise I wouldn't have done it, and just dealing with the guests is fun."

For those locals with a sweet tooth and a passion for gourmet treats you have a new business in Nesconset to frequent – Fanny Cakes. 

The newest business in the area is owned by Kristyn Weiser, and along with local politicians, Nesconset Chamber of Commerce members, friends and family, she celebrated the opening of her new business venture with a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday. 

There are many hair salons in the area to get styled by a professional, but along Lake Avenue in St. James is one eye-catching salon with a unique aura and atmosphere, emitting bold colors with graffiti styling that could be seen from the street – Sivana.

There are two candidates running for one open commissioner spot in the upcoming St. James Fire District election. The election is set for Dec. 11.

Board of Ed to Decide February Vacation Fate Tuesday Night

The Board of Education will vote on a resolution to revise the Smithtown Central School District calendar Tuesday night, which would use four of the February vacation days to make up for those missed in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

Superintendent Anthony Annunziato said the days missed could be made up Tuesday through Friday during the February break. The superintendent also said there is no other time to make up for the days lost.
