Man Speeds, Flees Police, Almost Crashes Into Multiple Vehicles In Southampton: Police
He was arrested Sunday night, police say.
SOUTHAMPTON, NY — A Hampton Bays man was arrested after speeding and fleeing police on Montauk Highway in Southampton Sunday night, police said.
According to Southampton Town police, the incident took place at about 7:02 p.m.; Dominic Stewart, 24, was observed traveling at a high rate of speed and violating multiple vehicle and traffic laws while heading westbound on Montauk Highway in Southampton, police said.
A Southampton Town police officer attempted to stop Stewart; however, he accelerated even more and began operating recklessly, almost striking other vehicles, police said. He continued to flee and was eventually stopped by another Southampton Town police officer, officials said.

Stewart was arrested and transported to Southampton Town police headquarters for processing; he was charged with one count of reckless driving, one count of unlawful fleeing a police officer, two counts of aggravated unlicensed operator — all misdemeanors— and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations, police said.
Stewart was released on an appearance ticket and is slated to appear at Southampton Town Justice Court at a later date, police said.
