Longtime UWS Deli Closes As Blank Street Coffee Opens Nearby
The Parisian Deli has closed after more than 40 years on the Upper West Side, while Blank Street Coffee opened at a new luxury building.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — Upper West Side businesses go through a weekly opening and closing gambit, and most recently a longtime neighborhood deli shuttered while a rapidly expanding coffee chain opened another location in the community.
In terms of the closing, the New Parisian Deli at 501 Columbus Ave., at the corner of 84th Street next to Prohibition, has permanently shuttered after more than 40 years in the neighborhood.
While the exact date for when the deli opened is unclear, it was sometime around 1980 as the Parisian Deli, before eventually adding the word New in the last decade.

The deli was open 24-hours a day and had three stars on Yelp.
"Their breakfast sandwiches, esp the Bacon, Egg and Cheese, were superb," a customer named Diane wrote. "But the staff at The New Parisian is what I will miss the most--they were always welcoming and took the time to get to know their customers."

The reviews weren't always great for the deli, but the longtime and always serving spot was a staple for Upper West Siders living in the area.
Blank Street Coffee Opens Within The Westly
Blank Street Coffee, the popular and rapidly expanding chain, has opened within the retail portion of the new luxury building the Westly at 2461 Broadway — near the corner of West 92nd Street.
"Blank Street Coffee is not only a great additional amenity in The Westly, but it also blends well with the mix of quality retail and amenity offerings in immediate proximity to the building," Ron Vaksin, one of the managing partners behind the real estate deal, said in a news release.
Blank Street now has four locations on the Upper West Side, with other outposts near West 85th Street and Broadway, West 79th Street and Broadway, and West 69th Street and Columbus.
The rapid expansion is made possible by operating out of micro-footprint brick-and-mortar spaces.
Its menu includes all types of coffee, baked goods (including gluten-free options), breakfast tacos, and special seasonal drinks depending on when you visit.
