Upper West Side Fire Breaks Out In Apartment Building, FDNY Says

The Thursday afternoon fire drew more than 130 firefighters to West 101st Street and Broadway.

UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — An Upper West Side fire drew a massive response from the New York City Fire Department Thursday afternoon, a department spokesman said.

The blaze broke out just before 4 p.m. on the fifth floor of a seven-story apartment building at 241 West 101st St, near Broadway, an FDNY spokesman said. The fire quickly spread to the building's sixth and seventh floors, resulting in a three-alarm response, the spokesman said.

More than 30 fire units with 138 firefighters battled the fire, an FDNY spokesman said. The spokesman could not confirm if anybody was injured.
