3-Alarm Fire Injures 6 In Washington Heights: FDNY

Four firefighters and two civilians were injured on Wednesday night.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Six people were injured, including four firefighters, in a three-alarm fire that tore through a Washington Heights apartment building on Wednesday night, New York City Fire Department officials said.

According to the FDNY, the inferno broke out at around 7 p.m. at 65 Fort Washington Ave. between West 161st Street and 162nd Street.

Nearly 140 firefighters and medics responded to the scene, where the fire was in the walls on the third, fourth, and fifth floors, officials said.

Six people were injured, including four firefighters and two civilians, who were all treated for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

Firefighters got the blaze under control by 8:30 p.m., FDNY officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
