Jersey Mike's Subs Shop Opening In Washington Heights

The popular chain sandwich shop is opening soon at 4055 Broadway, near the corner of West 171st Street.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — Big news coming out of the uptown sandwich world on Monday, Jersey Mike's subs shop is opening soon in Washington Heights.

The popular chain will open at 4055 Broadway, near the corner of West 171st Street, according to its website and also the company's storefront going up.

"At Jersey Mike’s, we offer a sub above – one that’s measured in more than inches or seconds ‘til served," reads a message on the chain's website. "We carefully consider every aspect of what we do – every slice, every sandwich, every store – we provide our customers with sustenance and substance too."

Its menu features cold and hot sandwiches, including the Original Italian with provolone, ham, prosciutto, cappacuolo, salami, and pepperoni. You can check out the full menu here.

Jersey Mike's continues the trend of chain businesses and restaurants opening recently in Washington Heights.

In the past year, Chick-fil-A, KFC, and Target have all opened new locations in the neighborhood.

The reactions to the Jersey Mike's opening in Washington Heights on uptown Facebook groups was relatively mixed.

"The best subs! Wow, this one is good," one person wrote. While another person just wrote, "Yessss."

Other uptowners weren't so happy to see another chain eatery coming to the neighborhood.

"Overpriced sandwiches. Support your local deli," a person wrote on Facebook. Another person wrote, "gentrification continues."

The Washington Heights Jersey Mike's will be just its second location in Manhattan. The chain does have a national presence after originally starting in New Jersey.
