Helmed by local owner and operator Senay Mekonen, who cut his teeth in the hospitality business working at his family deli in Stamford, Connecticut, the new Marble Hill location will participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program to donate surplus food to local soup kitchens, shelters, food banks and nonprofits in need. More than 18 million meals have been served nationwide from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations to date, a company spokesperson told Patch.
Mekonen comes by way of Chick-fil-A Jackson Heights' 82nd Street location, where he was enlisted in 2021 by his brother, owner-operator Aman Mekonen, to serve on his leadership team as a marketing director.
“I’m truly honored to bring Chick-fil-A’s delicious food and signature hospitality to Marble Hill,” Mekonen said. “It’s been well worth the wait, but I could not be more excited to show this neighborhood and my Team Members what Chick-fil-A care is all about. I look forward to bringing leadership, growth and development opportunities to Marble Hill and making a big community impact.”
Chick-fil-A will also make a $25,000 donation to Feeding America to aid in the fight against hunger in the local Marble Hill area. The location will also be awarding 100 local heroes making an impact in the Marble Hill area by giving them free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.
The fast-casual location will be open for dine-in from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and for carryout from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays. Chick-fil-A locations are closed Sundays nationwide.
