Nike Indoor Track Nationals Will Take Place In Wash Heights This Week

The best high school runners in the United States will descend on Washington Heights from Friday to Sunday.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — The best high school runners in the United States will be converging on Washington Heights this weekend for the biggest tournament of the year.

The Nike Indoor National High School Track & Field Championships will be held at the Armory at 216 Fort Washington Ave. near West 169th Street from Friday to Sunday.

The first race will kick off Friday 9 a.m. with the boys two-mile run and conclude on Sunday with the girls final shot put competition.

Tickets for each day will cost you a little over $40, which you can check out on the Armory's website.

At the beginning of the year, the Washington Heights indoor track complex announced it is now called the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory. As part of the new partnership, the venue also announced it would be hosting the Nike Indoor High School Nationals for the first time ever.

Previously, the uptown track was best known for hosting the annual Millrose Games since 2012, which is one of the premiere indoor running competitions in the world.

The races at this year's high school nationals will include the one-mile run, two-mile run, 400 meter dash, long jump, high jump, pole vault, triple jump, hurdles, 60-meter dash, 800-meter run, 200-meter dash, 1,000-meter run, 5,000-meter run, shot put, a variety of relays, and more.
