NYC Council District 10 2023 Results: Carmen De La Rosa Keeps Seat
Carmen De La Rosa, a Democrat, is defending her District 10 city council seat representing Washington Heights and Inwood.
INWOOD, NY — The polls in Washington Heights and Inwood are closed and voters probably already know who won.
Carmen De La Rosa, who uncontested, had 96.62 percent of votes counted as of 9:20 p.m., according to preliminary city Board of Election results.
A self-described "progressive Democrat," De La Rosa was first elected in November 2016 to represent the 72nd District in the New York State Assembly. She became the first Dominican woman to represent District 10 in the New York City Council in 2022. She is currently chair of the Labor Committee.

The incumbent has been outspoken in the past about combating irresponsible development and displacement, fixing New York City's education system and protecting small businesses, among other issues. She sponsored New York State's DREAM Act, which offers scholarships and financial aid to undocumented immigrants, as well as co-introduced the $2.1 billion Excluded Workers Fund, which aimed to help workers without access to Covid-related federal aid.
A graduate of Mother Cabrini High School and Fordham University, De La Rosa supports "criminal justice reform, workers’ rights, truly affordable housing and protections for tenants, climate justice, taxing the wealthy, LGBTIA rights, and many other consequential social justice policies," according to her New York City Council biography. "Since her first day in office, Carmen has fought against racism, xenophobia and economic injustice."
