Trio Charged With Murder After Uptown Shooting Of Reda Girgis: NYPD

Reda Girgis, 66, was visiting his son from Egypt for the birth of his grandchild, when he was killed outside of a deli, CBS reported.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A trio of people accused of shooting and killing a man outside of a Washington Heights deli were arrested on Wednesday, police said.

Reda Girgis, 66, was in the city from Egypt visiting family to celebrate the birth of a grandchild, when he was standing outside of a deli owned by his son at West 162nd Street and Broadway, multiple publications reported and police said.

A car drove by the uptown deli and a stray bullet struck Girgis in the head, police said. He was rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police added.

There was a group of teenagers also standing in front of the deli at the time of the shooting, who were believed to have been the intended target, according to CBS News.

Two of the people arrested and charged with murder share the same address on Nagle Avenue in Inwood, while the third lives in Yonkers, police said.
