Trio Robbed, Attacked By Group Of 4 In Wash Heights Station: NYPD

A group of four people followed a trio into the West 163rd Street station, before attacking and robbing them, NYPD said.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY —A trio of people were attacked and robbed after getting followed by a group in Washington Heights, police said on Thursday.

Three men were walking into the Saint Nicholas Avenue and West 163rd Street subway station about 2:45 p.m. on June 2, when a foursome that had already demanded money from them minutes earlier followed them into the station, police said.

The three men had previously ignored the group and walked away from them, but now the four other men attacked, police said.

Once inside the station, the group struck one of the men with a helmet and snatched money from his pocket, while they chased down another one of the trio and punched, kicked, and threw him to the ground, police said.

The group also punched and kicked the third person, police said.

The foursome then ran out of the station and hopped into a sedan, police said.

The three men were taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

The attack on June 2 happened a week after a man tried to attack and rob a woman walking through the turnstiles at the 181st Street A train station, police said.
