A Colombian cafe on West 165th Street just got named among the best breakfast options in the borough. Here's what to know.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — It is considered the most important meal of the day for a reason, and a Washington Heights bakery just got named among the very best breakfast options in Manhattan.
The food news and review website Eater NY recently published a list of "23 Great Breakfast Options in Manhattan."
The first name on that list? A Colombian cafe in Washington Heights called Salento.

Here's what Eater NY had to say about the cafe at 2112 Amsterdam Ave., on West 165th Street.
"This small panaderia and cafe in Washington Heights remains one of the best places in Manhattan for Colombian pastries and assorted South American snacks," Eater NY wrote. "Swing by in the morning for the sweet-salty pandebono cheese bread, chicken-filled corn empanadas, and calentado, the traditional Colombian breakfast platter of rice and beans paired with a fried egg, chicharron, and an arepa."

Salento calls itself a "community-focused cafe" that aims to share Colombian flavors through seasonal menus.
Salento is a small town in the coffee growing region of Colombia that sits at an altitude of 6,234 feet.
The Washington Heights cafe is especially well known for its coffee, serving up espresso, drip coffee, iced coffee, cafe con leche, americanos, lattes, cappuccinos, cortados, mochas, macchiatos, and more.
