A Bronx man was sentenced Tuesday for the slashing of a Washington Heights boutique employee in 2021, authorities said.
WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY - A Bronx man was handed down a prison sentence Tuesday for the slashing of a 22-year-old Washington Heights boutique employee in 2021, authorities said.
Joshua Morciglio, 31, was sentenced to six years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision for the unprompted attack, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr. said. Morciglio pleaded guilty to an assault charge in connection with the incident in July.
Morciglio entered Steph's Designs at 371 Audubon Ave. wearing a face mask on March 26, 2021 about 3:40 p.m., authorities said. He proceeded to slash a 22-year-old worker’s face with a sharp object, causing injuries that warranted stitches and surgery to heal.

“When New Yorkers go to work, they should not have to fear for their safety,” Bragg said in a statement. “Joshua Morciglio’s violent actions inflicted serious harm on a store worker, and now he faces accountability. While today’s sentence cannot take away the pain, I hope it brings some peace to the victim.”
