Washington Heights Cop Arrested For Whipping Her Child, Police Say
The cop has been on the police force since 2011.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A Washington Heights cop has been arrested and charged with assaulting her child, New York City Police Department officials said.
According to the NYPD, Angela Torres, 39, was arrested on Monday afternoon in the Bronx and has been charged with assault in the second degree and endangering the welfare of a child.
The New York Daily News reported that Torres first whipped the 10-year-old boy in the face, arms, legs and back with a belt and its buckle on Feb. 13, and then slapped him and knocked him into a table on Feb. 17, according to a complaint filed with the Bronx district attorney’s office.

Torres joined the police force in 2011 and was assigned to the 33rd Precinct covering Washington Heights, the New York Daily News reported. She is expected in court on March 6.
