Woman Shoved On Washington Heights Subway Platform, Police Say

Emergency responders took the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside.

WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NY — A 23-year-old woman was shoved into a train on Monday morning in Washington Heights, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, on Monday at 9:06 a.m. at the 175th Street station in Washington Heights,a 26-year-old man named Markeese Brazelis shoved the victim from behind.

The victim was slammed into the oncoming train and then stumbled back onto the platform, surviving the attack, police said.

Emergency responders took the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside, for bruises on her face, hands, knees and shoulder, police said.

The attacker got on the subway, but was caught one stop later, police said.

Brazelis was charged with one count of assault and one count of reckless endangerment, both in the first degree, police said.
