Winter Weather Advisory Remains In Effect For Westhampton-Hampton Bays

Mother Nature was back for another round in Westhampton and Hampton Bays Friday night, and when all is said and done, a total of three to five inches of snow accumulation is expected..

With snow still falling Friday morning, a winter weather advisory remained in effect for the entire East End through noon. Total accumulations of snow across the area are expected to reach between three and five inches, according to Joey Picca, meteorologist for the National Weather Service office at Upton.

Eastport, Picca said, received a reported 3.5 inches of snow; reports had not yet been received Friday morning for other areas on the East End, including Riverhead.

North winds Friday were expected to remain at 10 to 20 miles per hour Friday, with gusts of up to 40 miles per hours.

Friday's forecast includes a "gradual tapering off" of snow, Picca said, with some remaining light precipitation possible in the early afternoon hours.

"We'll see a gradual spindown of precipitation across the East End in the afternoon," he said.

"This wrap up completely by late afternoon," Picca said, adding that Friday evening could present some rain.

Picca said minor coastal flooding had been reported across the East End.
