Flu Shots for Yorktown Residents; Earring Making Workshop; Amateur Photo Contest

Here are five things you need to know today, Jan. 16.

1. Earring Making Workshop

Learn to make earrings at the earring making workshop at the Somers Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 1 p.m. Make some for yourseld and donate to battered women's shelters. 

2. Flu Shots for Yorktown Residents

There is a limited supply of flu shots in Yorktown and Somers. But according to the town of Yorktown, flu shots will be available to Yorktown residents, town employees and families by Dr. Richard Klein on Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Yorktown board room. The fee is $25 cash only. 

3. Yorktown Grads Make Dean's List

4. Amateur Photo Contest

The 4th annual Westchester County Amateur Photo Contest is underway now. The contest is only open to amateur photographers who are residents of Westchester County. Photographs must be submitted digitally from March 15 - March 31, 2013, and should be sent as jpeg attachments to: photocontest@greenburghlibrary.org Click here for more details.

5. Defensive Driving Course in Somers

AARP Defensive Driving Course at Somers Library will be held on Monday, April 15 from 9 a.m.t o 3 p.m. The cost is $17 for AARP members (please put your membership number on your check) $19 fee for non AARP members. Your check is confirmation of placement in the class. Refunds will not be given if you fail to attend, or cancel the day of the class. Please bring a valid driver's license, bag lunch, beverage, and a pen. Space is limited, so register early. Call 914-232-5717 to register. There is no online registration for this event.
