Fundraising Sites Set Up For Family Of Yorktown Captain Who Died
Lt. Kenneth Sgroi, who died Jan. 2, was posthumously promoted Saturday to captain.
YORKTOWN, NY — The Yorktown Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in helping take care of the family of one of their members who died.
Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble said two donation sites have been set up for Captain Kenneth Sgroi’s wife and two young children.
Sgroi died Jan. 2 after a short illness at age 37.

He was posthumously promoted from lieutenant to captain Saturday, Noble said, the day a funeral mass was celebrated for him.

“Captain Sgroi devoted his life to protect and serve his hometown community,” Noble said.
“It is my hope that our community will rally around the Sgroi family and the Yorktown Police Department,” he said.
“Outstanding cop. An even better man,” Noble said.
