Yorktown Heights Fire Leaves Several Senior Residents Homeless

Fire officials said the blaze was contained to a first-floor apartment, but smoke was a wider problem.

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, NY — A fire at the Beaver Ridge Apartments in Yorktown Heights Wednesday has left several senior residents homeless.

The Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department said on Facebook that fire personnel from Yorktown, Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department and Bedford Hills Fire Department were sent around 12:30 p.m. to the apartment complex for a report of smoke in the building.

Yorktown fire officers were first to arrive and found a fire alarm activation and smoke in the rear hallways of the three-story complex.
