2 Deadly Crashes Affect Monday Morning Commute

Two crashes have been deadly before 8:30 a.m. Monday, according to paramedics. Two areas of Charlotte were impacted by traffic delays.

CHARLOTTE, NC — Monday morning's commute was dangerous and deadly, according to Mecklenburg County paramedics, or MEDIC, which confirmed two deaths in two crashes on area roads.

MEDIC was called to a crash at West Mallard Creek Church Road at Claude Freeman Drive at approximately 7 a.m. According to Charlotte TV news affiliate WSOC, a pedestrian was killed when they darted across the road late to catch a bus. WSOC spoke to a witness who said they called 911.

Earlier Monday, first responders confirmed they responded to Pleasant Grove Road shortly after 6 a.m. off Brookshire Blvd.

MEDIC confirmed one person died and another person was seriously injured in the crash.

The intersection closed, affecting all directions and causing significant delays on the major thoroughfare.
