1. Man wanted after allegedly robbing victim at machete point in east Charlotte (wbtv.com) — Police are searching for a suspect after a man was robbed at machete point outside a convenience store on Eastway Drive near Shamrock Drive in northeast Charlotte. The early-morning incident happened December 2 in the Plaza-Shamrock community. Anyone with information can anonymously contact Crime Stoppers or use the P3 Tips app for a possible cash reward.
   

2. Change afoot at Hearts United for Good (qnotescarolinas.com) — A Charlotte-based nonprofit, Hearts United for Good, has moved from North Tryon Street to a new Plaza Midwood location, shifting from mass pantry nights to an appointment model serving about 1,200 people. The group continues offering food, furnishings, and pet support across the Charlotte metro, now aided by a major donation and a cost-cutting partnership with Second Harvest.
   

3. One person injured in northwest Charlotte mobile home fire (wccbcharlotte.com) — A northwest Charlotte mobile home was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning, leaving one resident injured and both displaced. Firefighters say an HVAC unit in a utility closet sparked the accidental blaze, which 30 Charlotte Fire crew members brought under control in about 22 minutes. The American Red Cross is helping the residents with emergency housing.
   

4. The power of service dogs: K9 support for officers injured in the line of duty (wbtv.com) — A Charlotte police officer injured during the April 2024 ambush on Galway Drive is rebuilding his life with the help of a highly trained service dog. Local nonprofit K9 Responder Foundation is providing the dog at no cost, supporting both the officer’s physical recovery and PTSD, and raising funds to extend similar help to more first responders and veterans.
   

5. Video: NC pastor says ICE took a community member and denied visitation (cardinalpine.com) — An immigrant living in North Carolina was detained by ICE during his routine check-in in Charlotte and later taken to Atrium Health in Pineville amid serious health concerns. A pastor says ICE initially blocked visitation, but advocates announced outside the hospital that visits would be allowed and that his potential release is being considered because of upcoming heart surgery.
