Here are the top three stories in Charlotte today:

  1. Three Charlotte schools were placed in lockdown on Wednesday morning due to shots fired in the area. The schools were Kennedy Middle, Steele Creek Elementary, and Olympic High. The lockdown started around 8:00 a.m. and was lifted around 10:00 a.m. It is unclear where the shooting occurred as of Wednesday evening. (WBTV)
  2. Charlotte's Terrell Freeman, Joshua Monteith, and Yanalise Hodge have been sentenced for attempting to cash stolen checks. Freeman and Monteith will serve nearly four years in prison. 3. The Charlotte Area Transit System will now be fare capping on the CATS-Pass app. The new system grants a monthly pass once an individual spends $88 (the equivalent of a monthly pass) in the app. The new system will offer a flexible, consumer-friendly option for transit customers. (WCNC)
