MyBaby4Me participants assemble blessing bags (thecharlotteweekly.com) — New and expecting moms in East Charlotte’s MyBaby4Me program recently assembled 100 “blessing bags” at The Galilee Center, using donations from South Charlotte church members. The bags, filled with winter essentials and small gifts, will be distributed through Lydia’s Pantry, highlighting how Charlotte mothers receiving support are also giving back to neighbors in need.
   

2. Mayor Vi Lyles brings back public safety committee (wsoctv.com) — Charlotte’s mayor is reviving a standalone public safety committee so City Council can spend two hours each month focused solely on crime and safety solutions. Led by District 1’s Dante Anderson, the group will tackle issues like uptown violence, juvenile offenders, and nuisance crime hot spots as the city prepares a tougher crackdown in 2026.
   

3. TSA anticipates screening 44 million travelers during holiday period (wsoctv.com) — If you’re flying through Charlotte Douglas for the holidays, expect big crowds but faster screening thanks to a new TSA PreCheck facial recognition option that skips ID and boarding pass checks. Officials project about 135,000 passengers a day through New Year’s, and some travelers say going a couple days before Christmas has kept their trips surprisingly smooth.

New airfare data from Dollar Flight Club ranks Charlotte Douglas International Airport among the cheapest U.S. places to fly in 2026, with average fares around $92 in spring or fall, giving locals and visitors a budget-friendly window to travel.
