Body Located In Lake Wylie Amid Search For Missing Man
The body of a "possible drowning" victim was located in Lake Wylie Friday morning, according to York County Sheriff's Office.
CHARLOTTE, NC — The body of a possible drowning victim was located in Lake Wylie Friday morning, one day after crews scoured the waterway in a search for a 73-year-old man who went missing on the lake Wednesday, according to reports.
The man, who has not been identified, was reported missing Wednesday when he failed to return home from the lake that straddles the North Carolina and South Carolina border.
The search began Wednesday evening around 6:30 p.m. at Copperhead Island public boating access on Soldier Road in Charlotte, where the man was last seen at the boat launch, WSOC reported.

Charlotte Fire Department said the man's boat with his belongings inside was found near Copperhead Island, WBTV reported. CFD, along with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and other agencies have used sonar technology to search along the shore and coves, and say the effort is now a search and recovery mission, the station said.
Friday morning, the York County Sheriff's Office indicated that a body was located near Buster Boyd Bridge boat landing, on the South Carolina side of the lake.

"The case remains under investigation, but we are working with CMPD in reference to this case," YCSO said.
